Only this week, they finally confirmed the 2018 iPhone naming. After much speculation and back and forth, we reported that the iPhone will be referred to as the iPhone XS – pronounced iPhone Ten S.
Furthermore, a Bloomberg report suggested that Apple is considering the "Plus" tag of this year's iPhone to drop XS. This would mean that Apple is pursuing an iPad-like approach to naming with the iPhone XS, with two screen sizes under a single brand name.
Screen & Size
In terms of screen size, the iPhone XS will be available in two options: 5.8 and 6.5 inches, both using OLED displays
For the iPhone X, currently 143 , 6mm x 70.9mm x 7.7mm thick, we do not expect any form factor changes. In terms of display technology, we should expect the same 2435 x 1125 resolution at 458 pixels per inch.
Supply chain diagrams indicate that the 6.5-inch iPhone measures XS at 157.53 mm, 77.44 mm by 7.85 mm thick. This is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus, which has a 5.5-inch display but with much larger bezels.
For the 6.5-inch iPhone XS display, a Bloomberg report indicated that the device could have a resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels per inch at the 458PPI mark.
With a larger display also comes support for new software features. The current beta release of iOS 12 suggests that the iPhone XS 6.5-inch supports more iPad-like horizontal apps and presents more information and details in a single view.

Performance Both screen sizes of the iPhone XS are expected to be equipped with Apple's A12 processor, which serves as the successor to the current A11 Bionic.
The A12 processor is the first 7-nanometer Apple processor built for speed improvements in a smaller and more efficient package – hopefully also for some battery enhancements.
Performance is expected to be a major focus for this year's iPhone XS – which is often the case for iPhone upgrades in the & # 39; S & # 39; Year . A report this week showed that Apple has focused heavily on improving iPhone performance, suggesting leaked benchmarks on 4GB of RAM (compared to the 3GB of the iPhone X).
The camera will be another focus for Apple this year. Although some reports have suggested that Apple could make the leap to a 3-lens system this year, it looks more like an upgrade from 2019 or beyond.
Nevertheless, Bloomberg points out that the iPhone XS will offer significant improvements to the camera. Camera updates and performance are the "most important changes" this year.
Unfortunately, we have to wait until the end of this month to see what specific enhancements to the camera the iPhone XS brings.
The unpublished iPhone X in gold
The iPhone XS is offered in contrast to its predecessor in a new gold-colored version. While Apple tested the iPhone X in gold, the option was never published.
However, our report on Thursday confirmed that the iPhone XS will be available in gold. The image we received shows the iPhone XS in gold with gold-tone stainless steel edges and a black front surface.
Of course, the iPhone XS will also be available in the traditional silver and deep gray colors. Tidbits
Initially, the iPhone 2018 will be available in "at least some regions" around the world in a dual-SIM configuration. What specific countries are included remains to be seen, but dual-SIM support will allow iPhone users to more easily change carriers while traveling. Second, reports have suggested that Apple will stop buying the Lightning on 3.5mm adapters with the iPhone year
. The company has included the adapter with every model since the iPhone 7, but will become more available with wireless that could change this year.
Finally, Apple is widely expected to bundle USB-C charging cables with this year's iPhone XS. This would mean that if you purchased your iPhone, you would receive a USB C charging block and a USB-C Lightning cable.
The iPhone XS with a 5.8-inch display is expected to launch this year at $ 899 – after the starting price of the iPhone X from 999 dollars. In line with previous "plus" trends, the 6.5-inch model is expected to start at $ 999.
Pricing ahead of Apple's announcement is hard to predict – and could change at the last minute – but this seems to be the case most likely
Availability Apple will announce the iPhone XS – in both screen sizes – on September 12 in less than two weeks.
If past iPhone startup plans are an indication, pre-orders will start on the following Friday, September 14th, and general availability will start on September 21st.
