RuPaul's Drag Race could be the first Emmy Champion for Host and Reality Show

"RuPaul's Drag Race" could add a new page to the Emmy History books: The series tops our Emmy Best Reality Host and Best Reality Competition Program odds and positions it as the first show to win both categories – and still in the same year.

Since the launch of the program race in 2003, only three shows have won: The Amazing Race (10 times), Top Chef (once) and The Voice (4 times). The hosts of these shows – Phil Keoghan Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio and Carson Daly – never won the corresponding award – and Daly still was not once nominated.

The host category was founded 10 years ago producing a few more winners: five. Jeff Probst ("Survivor") won the top four, followed by Tom Bergeron ("Dancing with the Stars"), co-winner Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn ("Project Runway"), two-time champion Jane Lynch ("Hollywood Game Night") and RuPaul Charles who takes the last two home.

Charles has 10/3 chances for three peat and "Drag Race" has the same edge to keep "The Voice" from claiming his fifth statuette and the fourth in a row. That said "Drag Race" was the predicted favorite to win last year. Oops. But last year was also the first time that the show broke the category, so it could be a case of baby steps. In any case, it would be nice to finally see the two winners for the first time.
