Bob Iger, chairman of Walt Disney Co., announced in a statement on Saturday Taylor's death. Taylor died Friday in Glendale, California, Disney said. She was 75 years old. The cause was not immediately clear.

Taylor hails from Cambridge, Massachusetts the official voice of Minnie in 1986, which defeated more than 200 contestants who auditioned. She spoke to Minnie about Disney projects in movie, television and theme parks, including the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and the TV show "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse".
"Minnie Mouse lost her voice with the death of Russi Taylor," said Iger. "For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi have worked together to entertain millions around the world – a partnership that has made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney legend." She was "as wonderful, funny and sweet as Minnie Mouse and as talented yet humble as one would expect".
She also cast votes for many other smaller Disney characters and for several smaller characters in The Simpsons. including Bart's nerdy classmate Martin Prince.
"It was a privilege to have known her and an honor to have worked with her," said Iger, "and we console ourselves with the knowledge that their work will continue to entertain and inspire generations."
