Samsung Chargers lose their shiny surface

Samsung has announced that it will replace plastic packaging for its products with paper and other environmentally friendly elements. The plan to initially limit and ultimately replace plastic packaging is part of the company's sustainability policy. This will also lead to a change in the surface of the Samsung Chargers.

The plastic packaging currently used for Samsung's products and accessories will be replaced by sustainable items such as recycled / bio-based plastics and paper starting in the first half of 2019.

Samsung Chargers for a Matte Finish

Samsung has formed a taskforce to revise the product packaging. The departments Design and Development, Purchasing, Marketing and Quality Control will bring their heads together to develop innovative packaging ideas. For smartphones, wearables and tablets Samsung will lay down the plastic holding trays for pulp molds. The bag packaging accessory is replaced with other eco-friendly materials.

Samsung also changes the design of the charger. The glossy exterior is off and a matte finish. The plastic protective films of the chargers are also dropped. The announcement does not mention when we will see chargers in the box with this matte finish

. This sustainability goal also includes other products such as televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and kitchen appliances. The plastic bags used to protect the surface of these products are replaced by bags made from recycled materials and bioplastics. These materials are made from plastic waste and non-fossil fuels such as starch or sugarcane. In terms of paper, Samsung will only use fiber materials certified by global environmental organizations.

This is a gradual transition. According to the company's medium-term implementation plan, only paper packaging materials certified by global organizations will be used by next year. By 2030, the company plans to use 500,000 tonnes of recycled plastics.
