Samsung introduces the chip that drives the Galaxy Note 10 series in most countries



Just hours before Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 10 series in the US, the manufacturer officially unveiled the chipset that powers the phones outside of the US. The Exynos 9825 SoC is manufactured in Samsung's own factory using the 7nm EUV manufactured. Using this process, more transistors fit into the new chip than the 8 nm Exynos 9820. This should lead to performance improvements of 20% to 30% while the Exynos 9825 consumes 30% to 50% less power. The EUV stands for extreme ultraviolet lithography. This technology uses ultraviolet rays to etch silicon into finer details, allowing for more precise placement of the circuits inside the chip.
Samsung states that the Exynos 9825, similar to the Exynos 9820 it replaces, is equipped with two custom Samsung CPUs Two Cortex-A75 CPUs for complex tasks and four Cortex-A55 CPUs for lower requirements. The graphics processor unit (GPU) on the chip is the ARM Mali-G76 MP1
2 (also the same as the Exynos 9820). The A-75 cores and the GPU run at higher clock rates than the same components on the Exynos 9820. The faster clock rates and the use of 7nm EUV enabled the newer chip to run faster in the test than its predecessor. The chip has a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that enables Artifical Intelligence capabilities for a smartphone camera to detect objects and enhance photos. It is also used to learn user patterns and to preload apps faster. The NPU also supports augmented reality features on a handset.

Samsung's Exynos 9825 chipset will power the Galaxy Note 10 Series outside the United States.

The Exynos 9825 is also equipped with Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0 twice as much bandwidth and uses less energy than UFS 2.1. It can also be operated at higher temperatures, which is important given all the demands that are being placed on a smartphone today. UFS 3.0 has a sequential read speed of almost 2280 MB / s compared to about 800 MB / s with UFS 2.1. The Exynos 9825 modem is an integrated 4G LTE Advanced Pro modem with 8x Carrier Aggregation. The latter combines carriers to form larger data channels to increase the capacity in a network. It is one of the tools used by mobile operators to increase data speed. Coupled with Samsung's Exynos 5100 5G modem (which supports both sub-6 GHz mmW and 5G radio waves), the Exynos 9825 will support the next generation of wireless connectivity. The Samsung Exynos 9825 chipset is now official. It also works with a dual camera setup (16MP + 16MP). Videos can be recorded with 8k at 30fps and 4k UHD videos at 150fps. Using a technology known as the Physically Unclonable Function (PUF), the chip isolates and secures users' personal information.

In the past, Samsung usually used the latest Snapdragon Mobile Platform to run the latest Galaxy Note model in the US with the Exynos chipset used almost everywhere else. Recently, however, there was a rumor that all Galaxy Note 10 Devices (unlike the Galaxy Note 10+) in the US with the exception of the Verizon models should also be equipped with the Exynos 9825 SoC. It turned out that this rumor does not apply. All Galaxy Note 10 variants in the US should be equipped with the Snapdragon 855 (+) mobile platform. The latter is manufactured by TSMC in the 7 nm process.
