Lens maker Samyang has provided users of mirrorless Sony Alpha models with the AF 18mm F2.8 FE with a new wide-angle option.
Samyang points out that only a few wide-angle lenses of this type are designed for the low weight and the small size of modern mirrorless cameras, but this new addition is intended to change that.
The lens, which is intended for full-format cameras like the Sony A7R IV, but is also compatible with APS-C cases like the Sony A6600, weighs only 145 g despite the relatively large aperture of 1: 2.8. Picture 1 of 6

The optical design consists of nine elements in eight groups, three aspheric elements, two high refractive elements and a triplet of elements with particularly low dispersion in place to help image qu keep high sharpness.
The lens is also equipped with a linear STM motor for fast, quiet and accurate focus. Focusing can be done up to 25 cm from the subject. Filters with a diameter of 58 mm can be screwed to the front, while a petal-shaped aperture is also supplied standard with the lens line, which also includes the lenses AF 35 mm F2.8 FE, AF 24 mm F2.8 FE and AF 45 mm F1
.8 FE includes.
The new look is expected to be available in September with a suggested retail price of £ 349.99 in the UK (approximately $ 420, $ 600). It is probably listed elsewhere under the name Rokinon AF 18mm F2.8 FE, although we have not yet learned anything about pricing or availability in other areas.
