SEATTLE – A high-ranking dignitary could consistently cause major traffic headaches The Region on Friday
Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, is already in the United States and will be on his West Coast tour begin. The prince travels with a huge entourage, and that could mean traffic disruption if he crosses our area for a series of high-level meetings.
Prince Mohammed is seen as both a reformer and a hardliner, but apparently this trip to Puget Sound is all about business.
According to Bloomberg, the prince expects to meet with the heads of Amazon, Boeing and Microsoft. This probably means moving between different locations – and like every major head of state – that could lead to road closures to house the motorcade.
The prince is here looking for significant economic investment in his country as Saudi Arabia tries to diversify from its mainly oil-dependent economy. The visit is also an effort to restore the image of the Kingdom – what many see as an ultra-conservative, autocratic regime.
Prince Mohammed is expected to travel to California this weekend.
