Pete Carroll was the most successful coach in the franchise history earlier this season, and now he's on his way to becoming the longest in the history of Seahawks living coaches.
Carroll, the first coach to lead the Seahawks The Super Bowl victory signed a multi-year contract on Monday, securing his future in Seattle for the 2021 season, which would be Carroll's 12th season in Seattle surpassed the ten seasons spent by Mike Holmgren as head coach of the team.
Already this season, Carroll, who had a record of 88-54-1 in the regular season and a record 9: 5 in the postseason, overtook Holmgren as the best coach ever, and after beating Sunday's win over The Kansas City Chiefs, the Seahawks, have earned a play-off berth for the seventh time in nine seasons since Paul Allen and his general manager were hired by Paul Allen after the 2009 season.
"I am pleased to announce that we have expanded head coach Pete Carroll by 2021
"So thankful for Jody and the organization," Carroll said. "I love this team and could not be more proud of representing the 12s."
The Seahawks have won four NFC West titles and two NFC championships under Carroll, convincingly winning the Super Bowl XLVIII and earning six playoff bunks. Prior to this season, you should at least advance at least to the division round. From 2012 to 2016, the Seahawks won 10 or more games in five seasons in a row. This corresponds to the number of double-digit winning seasons that the franchise had from 1976 to 2011. Sunday's win also means that the Seahawks will finish the season with a victory record for the seventh year in a row. In partnership with Schneider, the two have since 2011 18 different players selected and seen for the Pro Bowl. Since 2012, the team has counted 12 All-Pro selections for the first team. This ongoing success in a structured league is not an easy task to create parity.
"More than anything else, being able to stay consistent, stay ahead of the pack has always been something that was important to me," Carroll said earlier this month. "Everyone can have a good year and things can come together and you can do everything right. I think it's a much bigger message to say that you can find ways to continue to succeed, and that's the big challenge. That's the most important thing for me. I think the way to judge that is the road you look back to, and you see how you did it. This does not seem to be the time, but it's really important to stay up to date and challenge for the playoffs and divisions and all these things. I think everyone can have a good year from time to time. "
