For the second time this week, a sea turtle has been stranded on a beach on the Oregon coast, a side effect of rough seas and whipping winds that have shattered the coast for days.
Both turtles are being cared for on the Oregon coast Aquarium in Newport, which has an "air-conditioned quarantine area" designated by the aquarium for the rehabilitation of turtles.
A couple walking along the beach at Waldport spotted the turtle Saturday morning, called the aquarium, and called for state aid to Park Ranger Doug Sestrich to bring the animal to safety.
The turtle is in good health, the aquarium said Saturday.
The first turtle rescued this week was found late Wednesday night and named after a character in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic Donatello.
Caretakers The turtles continue to be cared for and scheduled to take them to SeaWorld San Diego, where treatment continues until they are ready for release in the wild, the aquarium said.
