November I had a nice day off the west coast of the USA. The Pacific was darkening under the glowing red bands of the sunset. NASA was there to capture everything on video when she was conducting a test recovery mission of an Orion spacecraft crew capsule.

The footage is great, a fusion of science with the art of nature.

NASA has released the video on Thursday and it shows that the ship's USS John P. Murtha is accepting the Test Orion capsule as an ethereal soundtrack. The sunset breaks over the horizon and gives the processes an otherworldly view.

NASA has the Moon and Mars in mind and is developing the Orion probe to bring people to orbit off-planet. The space agency plans an unmanned Orion mission around the moon for 2020 with the goal to send a crew in 2023.

When astronauts return to Earth one day in Orion, they slow down their parachutes before reaching the water. NASA and the US Navy are conducting a series of marine tests to verify capsule recovery procedures.

It would be a bonus if our future astronauts will experience the same kind of breathtaking sunset that NASA has just experienced.
