SEGA has announced Yakuza 7: Abode of Light and Darkness and stared at new protagonist Kazuga Ichiban. The story takes place in Yokohama. Do not expect to see much of Kamurocho passing through (about three times the size of this Yokohama city). Ichiban absolutely loves Dragon Quest, just a little random funny fact.
Yakuza 7 has a completely new combat system, similar to Persona. It is a command-based input. Director Toshihiro Nagoshi said that if the new mechanics of the game are not welcomed by the fans, they will return to the old action style.
It's technically the 13th entry in the series, but only the 8th main title as Yakuza Ishin (who may come to North America), Yakuza Kenzan (who may also come to North America), Yakuza: Dead Souls and Yakuza: Black Panther and his successor are all spin-offs.
The Yakuza series was announced recently. The Yakuza Origins collection and the Yakuza Remastered collection were released on PS4 just last week.
The game will be released on PS4 and will be released on January 16, 2020 in Japan, China and South Korea, and later in 2020 in North America and Europe. No other platforms have been confirmed. This may not be the name in North America and Europe. Yakuza 7 can be played on the TGS 2019 from 12 to 15 September.
