COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. – At least seven people suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday after a coach on a highway crashed in Georgia, authorities said. The bus carried 18 passengers, George State police said.

The accident occurred just before 9am on eastern I-20, about 15 miles west of Augusta, where the Masters Golf tournament is underway. According to the CBS subsidiary WRDW, there were no golfers on the bus and they were already on the court.

The authorities have closed a lane in both directions.

Firefighters report to CBS News that they will build an animal shelter and transport passengers who have not suffered injuries there.

The police say the driver, 61

The bus belongs to Jet Executive Limouisine, Inc., police said.
