Johannesburg – Model and actress Shashi Naidoo returns to South Africa after being reportedly denied entry into Palestine, boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) on Wednesday.
Naidoo was denied access to Palestine on Wednesday by Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deriand on the recommendation of Israeli security minister Gilad Erdan
Israeli authorities control access to Palestine
BDS spokeswoman Kwara Kekana confirmed Independent Media (IOL) that Naidoo would fly back to Jordan before flying back to South Africa.
"She's on her way back to South Africa," she said.
Naidoo joins a growing list of South Africans who were denied passage to Palestine, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Minister Blade Nzimande, President of the World Council of Churches, Isabel Phiri, and many other South African citizens.
BDS added that Israel also blocks Jews who are critical of Israel, such as Rabbi Alisa Wise of Jewish Voices for Peace.
"This repressive behavior is the way Israel treats Palestinians who face similar but worse forms of restriction and denial of many other freedoms, much as we South Africans were once treated by the apartheid regime."
"This is a clear indication that Israel refuses to allow freedom of movement, expression and association, and this behavior is in violation of our diplomatic ties and is another indication that South Africa needs to implement the ANC resolution for emergency aid and unconditional downgrading of the SA embassy as Israel. "
The SAJBD also responded to the news, defending Israel's decision to refuse the Naidoo crossing to Palestine.
The organization said that thousands of South Africans of all races, religions, and faiths travel to Israel and Israel for various reasons, entering Israel through various border crossings and doing so as in any other country.
"Shashi Naidoo has decided to visit Israel and the Palestinian Territories to learn about the region and the conflict, as well as those who want to further understand the conflict." Unfortunately, she opted for the organization "[1
The SAJBD "It was clear from the press conference that Naidoo held with BDS on June 20, 2018, that the goal of the trip was less to learn Shashi about Palestine, but rather to transform it into the same beliefs as BDS, above all, that Israel should not exist, and that anyone associated with Israel, including Jews here in South Africa, is targeted in the BDS hate campaign should be taken. "
" This hate campaign has led to many countries around the world, including Israel, Germany, Canada, France and the US, who actively counter BDS activities and effectively recognize and reject the inherent racism and anti-Semitism of this organization.
The organization then added for these reasons recognizes the right of Israel, like other sovereign states, to deny access to those who demand its destruction.
"We hope that Naidoo will abandon BDS and soon return to Israel and Palestine via the right channels to learn more about the complexity of the conflict and the real suffering that both Israelis and Palestinians face due to the shortage experiencing a viable peace process ".
