Out of nowhere, the official Chelsea website announced today that their new stadium project should be put on ice for the foreseeable future, pointing out that there is no "time frame" for further work. The official reason for the decision was the "currently unfavorable investment climate," the club said.
As a reminder: Chelsea had conducted a lengthy and protracted legal battle to pave the way for the final construction after mounting the last part of the mystery in the settlement regarding the light issue in March.
The question everyone is asking right now is pretty obvious: what does that mean for Chelsea's summer plans in the transfer window? While the actual reasons for the indefinite postponement of stadium plans could take quite a while to disclose, of course, the hope of investing in a long overdue overhaul of the current squad has flared up.
It is needless to say that Chelsea has done an amazing job of keeping this out of the entire media landscape, and we can only hope that these are the only negative news we hear from the club today.
