Shooting in New Jersey: 2 people injured in high school football game



Filming took place at the end of the third gaming quarter between Camden High School and Pleasantville High School, CNP subsidiary WPVI-TV reported.

Both victims suffered serious injuries, said Pleasantville police chief Sean Riggin. One is a "young teenager" and the other is a young man, he said.

Several Pleasantville players told CNN's daughter KYW-TV they initially thought the fireworks were fireworks, but when they realized what the noises were, they ran through a fence.
"We have just seen everyone run from the crowd," said Keon Henry, a senior who plays football in Pleasantville, opposite KYW-TV.

"Coach told us to get down, but we did not want to go down, we wanted to be safe somewhere in the school, so we all ran up here, ran through the fence, and then went through here." [1

Riggin said that several policemen and administrators were involved in the game, but gave no additional details on the circumstances of the shootout.

Camden Schools tweeted that they knew about the shooting.

"We can confirm that no Camden High students were injured or otherwise injured during the incident," the district tweet said.

The State of New Jersey's Interscholastic Athletic Association, the government's government college for high school sports, [tweeted they are tracking the updates for shooting.

"Our thoughts and prayers are addressed to those affected in the communities of Pleasantville and Camden," the tweet said.
