LONDON (AP) – According to scientists, daily high-potency marijuana smoking may increase the likelihood of developing psychosis by about fivefold.
The new research complements earlier studies in which links between marijuana and psychotic were found disorders, but it is still not clear to determine marijuana as a cause.
Psychosis is usually triggered factors like genetics and environment. Experts say that the findings of the new study have implications for jurisdictions that legalize marijuana, and they warn that they should also consider the impact on their psychiatric services.
