Davis, who applied for a deal with LA in January, joins James in Los Angeles to become one of the most powerful duos in the NBA. Davis has long planned to sign a new contract with the Lakers as soon as he becomes eligible for a free agency in 2020.

The Return Davis's pelicans were considerable, and perhaps even more impressive, as the market in New Orleans had shrunk, based on rival teams believed Davis would ultimately be leased for just one year before going to the Lakers next summer.
The pelicans will now have two of the first four picks in Thursday's draft – # 1 and # 4. New Orleans will select Zion Williamson as # 1 and now have the flexibility to choose a 4th place player – or to trade him at an auction in the next few days.
New Orleans has shown great interest in discussions with teams over the fourth election in recent days, and these talks are expected to continue over the next few days, sources said. The teams are taking the point guards Darius Garland and Coby White high in the lottery, giving New Orleans a chance for even more of the deal.
The teams are already showing great interest in the fourth election, and talks are expected. Continue in the next few days.
The agreement that sends the Lakers to New Orleans in the first round in the future includes the possibility of a pick-swap, which could make trading even more beneficial for the pelicans, according to league sources. Ingram and Ball were the main players in the pelicans' trade, presenting themselves in a starting formation with Wiliamson and Jrue Holiday. Ingram has recovered from a blood clot in his right shoulder that has prematurely ended his season. He is expected to return to the field in July – ready for the training camp in the fall, sources said.
If both sides agree to postpone the trade call by July 30, Los Angeles will have $ 32.5 million in free agency space. If Los Angeles waited the 30 days, it would behave like a team and use the fourth Draft option as a salary. If trading is completed on July 6, that number will drop to $ 27.8 million.
Davis also has a 15 percent trading bonus worth $ 4 million, which would bring the Lakers' upper limit down to $ 23.8 million in the first week of July. Davis has the right to void the bonus.
Like the Lakers, New Orleans could benefit from a 30-day wait to close the deal. The Pelikanen would increase the space requirement of 15 to 19 million US dollars.
