A man who violently pushed a woman into a Spar supermarket in Schweizer-Reneke suffers from a mental disorder, police said.
In a video shared on social media, there are two women and one child walking down a shopway as the man approaches in a gray hoodie and pushes one of them. He is then stopped by bystanders and employees.
According to police spokeswoman Colonel Amanda Funani, the incident is said to have happened on Friday at 09:33.
Funani told News24 that the woman at the police station of Swiss Reneke had opened a case of joint attacks.
"After the case was opened, we found that the guy is mentally disturbed and is taking medication," Funani said.
Because the police are not arresting suspects in the joint attack, the 33-year-old man was released into his parents' care, Funani said.
The man is expected to appear on Monday before the Swiss Reneke Magistrates Court.
"The prosecutor will decide on Monday if he will be transferred to a mental hospital or not, and he is currently under parental guidance," said Funani.
