Jacques Vermeulen seals the move of the Exeter Chiefs

The Exeter Chiefs have confirmed the signing of former Sharks striker Jacques Vermeulen with immediate effect for three years.

The 24-year-old forward joins the Sharks South African Super Rugby team to Devon, and is the newest addition to the Chiefs squad for the 2019-20 English Premiership season.

Vermeulen has caught a glimpse of Sandy Park, who has arrived from Cape Town, for the first time this morning, and will now spend little time integrating into the club's first-team squad.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to come to a world-class club like the Exeter Chiefs," Vermeulen said. "Today I feel like a little boy again, very excited about the challenge and just part of the team.

" I've watched a lot of games on TV and found out that Sandy Park is always packed on match days. The team itself is playing very good rugby and I can not wait to be part of the team spirit, learn about the culture and do my best for the club. "

Vermeulen has started his senior career at Western Province, has been with the Sharks since 201

7 and has played a prominent role in 16 super rugby games over the past season, helping his side reach the semifinals of the Currie Cup.
