The Christmas turkey slides along with the cranberry sauce, candied yam roots and the obligatory fruit cake towards the International Space Station (Spacecraft). The Falcon 9 rocket fired into a clear, cool sky, but the first-stage booster, aiming for a touchdown in front of the launch pad, crashed into the sea.
The booster could get out of control on its way down.
The Dragon capsule was due to reach the orbita lab on Saturday.
In addition to all Christmas dinner fixtures, the delivery includes 40 mice and 36,000 worms for aging and muscle studies. The scientists expect a ten-fold increase in the worm population.
The launch was delayed by one day due to a feeding problem for the mice. NASA discovered on Monday that the food was moldy for the mouse cononauts. More food was brought in from California.
