Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Tom Holland were addressed Spider-Man's inevitable exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after negotiations between Disney and Sony Pictures failed earlier this week. The two studios reportedly failed to reach agreement on producer credits for future Spider-Man films. [1
Fig was diplomatic in his comments, but it's hard to feel anything other than a sense of finality in terms of splitting, as opposed to People like Jon Favreau (19459004), who work for a reconciliation between the studios so that Spidey can return Joy: We have to make five films with Spider inside the MCU -Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It should never take forever. We knew that we could do this only in a limited time, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I will always be grateful for that.
Holland reflected on his time in The MCU tells EW:
"Basically, we shot five great films. Five amazing years have passed. I had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I will continue to play Spider-Man and have the time of my life. It will be so much fun, but we will decide. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but just as great and amazing, and we'll find new ways to make it even cooler.
An additional, albeit sentimental, twist of the knife into the Spider-Man fandoms heart when Holland addressed the crowd during the presentation Onward on the D23. Towards the end of the presentation, Holland turned to the crowd and told them: "It was a crazy week, but I want you to know with all my heart that I love you 3000."
Hollands remark remembers A memorable line from his now penultimate MCU movie, Avengers: Endgame which was said by Tony Starks ( Robert Downey Jr. . )'s daughter Morgan as a fashion show how much she loves him. For the fans, the line is no doubt a hard blow, if only because Holland has to face a transitional period for which he was probably not ready.
There are currently no announced plans for Spider-Man's future at Sony. It is similarly unclear what the next professional steps in Holland will be. Feige already has an eye on the future and juggles with all the projects included in Phase 5 of the MCU and the upcoming Disney + streaming service.
