Sprint Unlimited 55+ for Seniors could be announced on May 18th

Last August, T-Mobile announced an unlimited plan for seniors ages 55 and over. A report released today says Sprint will introduce its own unlimited plan for seniors on May 18th. Sprint is expected to call its Plan Unlimited 55+. If that sounds familiar, it's the same name as T-Mobile's Senior Plan. If you're 55 or older, Sprint will give you an unlimited service line for $ 50 a month or two lines for $ 70 a month. Currently, Sprint charges $ 60 a month for an unlimited service line and $ 100 a month for two lines.

Apart from the special prizes, the rest of the plan remains the same as Sprint's regular unlimited offers. This means that subscribers receive unlimited conversations, text and data, with video streaming in (DVD quality) 480p, music streaming at 500 kbps and gaming streaming at 5 Mbps. With Sprint's Global Roaming Service, subscribers can read and use data in 1

85 countries at 2G speeds without paying extra. International roaming is limited to 100MB at 2G speeds, and during periods of heavy traffic, Sprint could reduce heavy user data speed.

With today's report that T-Mobile and Sprint may announce a merger next week, Sprint may decide not to announce it. On the other hand, considering the regulatory approvals that would require such a transaction, an agreement between the two airlines could take up to a year to close. With that in mind, the nation's fourth-largest provider could choose to offer their version of Unlimited 55+ next month
