Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Review – from classics to playable cartoons

I missed the Spyro trilogy the most when these games debuted on the original PlayStation. The Reignited Trilogy includes remakes of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Revenge and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The collection will start on Nov. 13 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (I've played the PS4 version). This gives me the chance to try these 3D platform drivers and enjoy some fantastic new graphics.

Do you know what? I like Spyro! Sure, it helps those games look awesome now, thanks to the redesigned visuals, but I'm impressed by how well this trilogy still plays.

What & # 39; ll you & # 39; ll like

A Living Cartoon

Similar to Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy last year with his trio of PlayStation classics, Reignited Trilogy Spyro makes a modern look without sacrificing the tone and style of the originals. The games have their visual clues from classic fantasy tropics, and as you walk through their worlds, it feels like you're trampling through a living fairy tale.

I like all the games in their original presentation and I'm sure I could do it I still appreciate the original, polygonal look of these games. But, man, these remakes are pretty. Sometimes new visual elements can hide the charm of the original vision, but the updated worlds and character models from Spyro complete the experience. This is especially true for the various free dragon figures. In the original, they all looked the same (apart from different colors). In Reignited Trilogy, every dragon has a unique look. I enjoyed liberating them to see more of their creative character designs.

Responsive 3D Platform

Spyro feels great. The Dragon distinguishes itself from Crash's straightforward run-and-jump abilities and Mario's acrobatic jumping abilities by focusing on gliding and recharging. The charge sacrifices some motion controls for faster speed (and the ability to knock down most opponents), but does not make Spyro a slippery, uncontrollable, out-of-control kite. The loading process is fast and helps to make these walks through the game world more manageable.

Gliding allows you to reach distant platforms. They are always looking for the highest platforms and trying to figure out which areas you can reach from there. This is often the key to finding the more hidden areas in each level, and it's a fun challenge to explore and experiment with your gliding skills.

You have three Spyro games in one, and that's a lot. If you just drive to the end of each title, you can finish everyone in a day or so. However, you can get so much more out of these games if you're trying to achieve 100 percent completion. Spyro is fun enough to control that you do not mind going back to the old levels and looking for every last gem.

If you get along 100% in all three games, you'll have a lot to do. [19659018] Above: Dragons are not afraid of fire!

What you do not like

Loading times

Every time you get to a new level, you have to endure some long loading times. This is one of those games that force me to leave my phone nearby, so every time I have to wait through a new loading screen, I can surf in Reddit or Facebook (yes, I know, I'm painting myself with screens , please help.)

It's not as funny or charming as it thinks

Spyro looks beautiful and sweet. It's a caricature that comes alive … at least visually. The writing is not as funny or as charming as the footage. Spyro can go off as an arrogant fool. They often have to see short cut-scenes of character vignettes trying to mimic the slapstick stylings of L ooney Tunes but the crazy timing and generic jokes make it hard for them to prevail.

Conclusion

I missed these games when they first came out, but I'm glad that Reignited Trilogy gave me a chance to appreciate them All three titles are entertaining and responsive 3D -Plattformspieler.

But Reignited Trilogy is not content to celebrate the past. The new, vibrant graphics make Spyro a playable fantasy cartoon. It is one of the most attractive kid-friendly games you can find.

Score: 88/100

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy will be released November 13 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The publisher has sent us a copy of the PS4 version for this test.
