The Brat Pack is back! On one of NBC's first purchases in this pitch season, the network has the development of St. Elmo's Fire a modern adaptation of the cult classic of 1985.

Written by Drop Dead Diva The creator Josh Berman, of the updated St. Elmo's Fire will feature a group of close friends with Career, commitment and adult responsibility.

Berman manager produces with Chris King about his Osprey Prods. Sony Pictures Television, whose leading actor Columbia Pictures produced the film in 1985, is the studio. The project has a scripting commitment from the network.

Co-author and director of Joel Schumacher, The Coming-of-Age St. Elmo's Fire starred Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy and Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Mare Winningham as a group of recent graduates of Georgetown University who document their adaptation to life after college and the responsibilities of adulthood. Elmo's Fire became a commercial success and a staple staple of pop culture that lasted for generations.

For the past decade, Sony TV has repeatedly attempted to develop an adaptation of the television series St. Elmo's Fire with various writers. The projects have been set up in various networks, including ABC and E !.

Berman has a long relationship with Sony TV, where he has completed a number of deals. Most recently, he created / produced the VH1 series Daytime Divas and was co-creator of ABC's Notorious.
