The Company Stan Lee is now fighting Stan Lee's daughter and heir for control of his extremely valuable name, likeness and ideas.
As strange as it may sound … Stan Lee Entertainment sued Joan Celia Lee claiming she is trying to benefit from her father if she has no legal right to do so – though she is the only one Heir to his fortune.
According to docs, the company founded in 1998, Stan – as an animation publisher and entertainment company – has been given rights to its name, similarity, ideas, characters, stories, logos, and so on. Basically, if Stan meant it that way. .. SLE owns it … according to the company.
SLE claims, however, that since the Great Cheese died in 2018 Joan has not protected SLE's intellectual property rights. Especially in a suit, SLE POW! Entertainment for interloping … tries to "plunder the intellectual property of SLE".
SLE is looking for Joan to play Captain America or Iron Man and save the day. In its lawsuit, the company is acting as a trustee for the Lee Family Survivor's Trust … Joan has the "duty to defend the rights" of SLE against bad guys like POW!
Stans Co. wants the court to force Joan to stop her end of the deal and defend SLE against all evildoers – or as the lawsuit puts it … POW! and other beings trying to use Stan's valuable ideas.
It is also required a statement that SLE is the rightful owner of Stan's creations.
We have reached Joan … not a word back yet.
