PITTSBURGH – Several players from Pittsburgh Steelers prevailed against Antonio Brown in the third quarter of Pittsburgh's 28:21 triumph over Cincinnati Bengal's linebacker Vontaze Burfict on Sunday.
Right tackle Marcus Gilbert says Burfict should be
They've weathered the storms of a season, but maybe no team better than Pittsburgh is able to beat the other side.
Ben Roethlisberger has found Antonio Brown in the middle for a TD in the waning seconds as the Steelers maintained their dominance of the Bengals.
After consecutive 100-yard games, James Conner ranks fifth in the NFL and has campaigned for a role, even when Le Veon Bell returns.
"That's pathetic, the NFL has to do something about it," Gilbert said. "Some guy out there deliberately trying to hurt people, there's no need for this sort of game in this league, it's sad, and eventually he'll grow up."
Brown caught a pass over the middle and was attacked by two Bengals defenders when Burfict infiltrated Brown's upper body / head area with his right elbow. Brown was on the pitch for a few seconds and was rated by the team on the sideline before rejoining the game. Brown ended up with a 31-yard, game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left.
After The Game, Brown called the game a "bad hit".
"Thankfully, I came back in the game to end the game," he said.
Burfict has a long history of monstrous hits, fines and penalties since joining the league in 2012. He served a four-game suspension to start the 2018 season for the league's drug abuse policy. Burfict has not played more than 11 games in a year since 2013.
During the 2015 season, Burfict had injured the three best offensive players in the Steelers – Brown, Le Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger – questionable game
The League has emphasized protecting quarterbacks with the revised roughing of passport calls, but Guardian David DeCastro also wants to see receiver protected.
"It's hard to see AB get hit like that," he said. "With all the focus on quarterback safety, what about a guy like AB – he's a superstar in this league, how much money does he get paid, how much does he mean to that team? A cheap shot like that, I thought, was unnecessary … If they want to talk about making this game safer, maybe they'll do something, or maybe they'll introduce a new rule that nobody calls when it matters, maybe it's a public relations ploy. " Steelers players are constantly praising Burfec's ability as a player, but he wishes he would mitigate the evilness.
"He's hurting his team," Gilbert said. "It could have been an expensive penalty right there, who knows, he should be suspended for that goal, we'll see, but he's too good for a football player to miss those games."
