I'll be honest: When I heard that Sega– one of the Nintendo NES Classic – I did not go to Sonic the Hedgehog or Ecco the Dolphin. I immediately began to think about how much fun it would be to play Streets of Rage, one of the best side-scrolling beat-em-up series ever.
So, my pleasure to learn a brand new Streets of Rage – Streets of Rage 4 – is currently in development. Publisher DotEmu announced the game today, and you can see its first trailer above. It has a new anime-like style with hand-drawn images, but it's unmistakably Streets of Rage. Here's how DotEmu describes the game:
Streets of Rage 4, which features hand-drawn graphics from the Wonder Boy team: The Dragon's Trap 2017, builds on the gameplay of the classic trilogy with new mechanics, a new one History and a gauntlet on dangerous phases with a serious crime problem. Streets of Rage 4 is reminiscent of classic gameplay, but thanks to the expertise of Guard Crush Games and Dotemu, it is a completely original arcade-style game.
Whether players team up with a friend or clean up the city solo, Streets of Rage 4 It's a coughing, smashing pleasure that puts it all down to a thundering soundtrack that will get your blood pumping.
So yes, there is still co-op. Chicken is still eaten. Blaze and Axel (now with a serious beard) are back. But we still do not know if we can play as exceptionally powerful kangaroo.
