According to a new study, the number of deaths associated with liver disease in the United States has increased at an "alarming" rate , which worries researchers, especially for young men.
Doctors Elliot Tapper and Neehar Parikh, liver specialists and assistant professors at the University of Michigan Medical School, reviewed data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention between 1999 and 2016.

The most worrying results for Tapper and Parikh was the nearly 300 percent increase in cirrhosis deaths in men ages 25 to 34.
While liver damage is often attributed to years of alcohol consumption, the recent surge in intoxication by young American men has sped up the process.

Those who suffer most from liver disease are those who drink several drinks each night or several nights in which they consume more than four drinks in one session, causing Tapper as a narcotic considered.
The findings also revealed that certain ethnic groups, especially white and Native Americans, experienced a rapid increase in liver disease mortality from 2009 onwards.

Tapper and Parikh fear that the numbers will only worsen if obesity rates continue increasing what leads alcohol consumers to greater risk k for the development of liver disease
The solution is, according to Tappers, a strategic taxation of alcoholic beverages to contain the Ko nsums, similar to the tax increase for cigarettes, which has been shown to reduce smoking. He also believes that there has to be an intervention from public health services to help those suffering from alcohol dependence.
Although the results are grim, Tapper says there is hope – but only if you stop drinking.
Tapper has worked with patients who have completely changed their lives by eliminating alcohol before it's too late.
