Subaru debuts in Tokyo with Forester and Impreza STI Concepts

Subaru is re-directed to the Tokyo Auto Salon with new concepts. If you have ever wondered what a wandered forest ranger would look like, the puzzle ends in January. The automaker also debuts with the Impreza STI Concept.

Not to be confused with the biennial Tokyo Motor Show, the Tokyo Auto Salon is mainly about modified cars and retrofit parts like SEMA here in the US. Fixed Fest STI will be available soon. We value the idea of a more capable forester as a concept. It features 19-inch wheels, yellow accents, six-piston Brembo calipers and aerodynamic bits. Under the tin, it has the "e-Boxer" system, which is available for the Advance fairing of the Forester in Japan and combines a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor. Although we have not seen the interior yet, Subaru promises special seats.

The Impreza STI Concept is based on the Japanese Impreza sports hatch with 2.0-liter engine. We do not have much specific information about the vehicle yet, but it seems there are special lighting elements and a body set.

In January 201

8, Subaru debuted with the VIZIV Performance STI Concept, which previews the next STI. It featured new inlets, aggressive headlamps, a large wing, and flared fenders, though the production version is unlikely to be nearly as wild.

The Tokyo Auto Salon runs from January 11th to 13th.
