Subway driver evacuated after train derailment in Queens



BRIARWOOD, Queens (WABC) – Subway drivers were evacuated after a train derailment in Queens.

Just before 8pm. On Saturday, a train F derailed south between Parsons Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard in Briarwood.

Officials say the two wheels of the first car have fallen off the tracks. Just before this happened, the brakes of the train were in distress.

There were 195 people on the train, and all on board were evacuated and put on another train.

Investigate what has happened. Injuries have been reported.

MAINTENANCE CHANGES:

There is no F maintenance in both directions between Briarwood and Jamaica-179 St, as we continue to investigate why a train's brakes on Sutphin Blvd have been activated.
