Susan Sarandon said she was arrested on Thursday following a protest on Capitol Hill against the Trump administration's policy on illegal border crossings and the separation of migrant children from their parents.
"Arrested, Hold on, Fight On" Tweeted the actress without giving any further details.
The Capitol Police did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.
However, Sarandon was only three hours on Twitter after she was told that she had been arrested
"Powerful, beautiful action with hundreds of women saying we demand the reunification of families separated by immoral ICE policy That's what democracy looks like. #WomenDisobey, " tweeted the 71-year-old .
The actress joined hundreds of women organized by the Women's Movement and the People's Democracy Center. They demanded that migrant families separated at the border should be reunited.
Prior to her arrest, Sarandon rescued other women attending a sit-in demonstration in the Hart-Senate office.
Protests wrapped themselves in aluminum foil to imitate the silver ceilings seen in photos of migrant children in detention centers.
