Authorities have arrested a suspect when policeman Ronil Singh was shot dead on Wednesday, Stanislaus County sheriff's office said in a Friday press briefing. Modesto Bee reports that Gustavo Perez Arriaga was arrested Friday morning and joined two alleged accomplices – his brother Adrian Virgen and his colleague Erik Razo Quiroz – who were arrested for equipment. The Bee reports that Arriaga worked for years as an agricultural worker following the illegal crossing of the border and allegedly shot and killed Singh after being passed by early Wednesday morning because he appeared to be under the driver's influence. He was reportedly trying to flee to Mexico at the time of his arrest, Sheriff Adam Christianson said.
On Thursday, the shooting caught the attention of President Trump, who justified the construction of the wall with the death of Singh. "There is currently a large-scale hunt for an illegal immigrant in California who is accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic disruption," wrote Trump . "It is time to face border security. Build the wall! "Arriaga is now on his way to Stanislaus County wearing Singh's handcuffs.
