Farmers in India worked on a rice field when they said a meteorite had fallen into the ground and left a huge crater.
The incident occurred in the district of Madhubani in the state of Bihar, according to The Guardian.
One man said the pale brown rock, weighing about 33 pounds and allegedly having magnetic properties, had crashed in a field in the village of Mahadeva in the district of Madhubani in the Indian state of Bihar "a bit hot," the Associated Press reported.
Nobody seemed hurt by the impact.
Photos show several men standing around a large muddy crater believed to be caused by the suspected meteorite.
District Administrator SK Ashok said it is being sent to a laboratory for observation.
Meteors are asteroids or other space objects that burn and evaporate upon entry into the Earth's atmosphere. If a meteor survives and lands on the surface of the earth, it is called a meteorite.
