The Swedish Film Institute says that Swedish actress Bibi Andersson, who starred in classic films by her fellow countryman, filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, has died. She was 83.
Spokesman Martin Frostberg tells Andersson, who died in "The Seventh Seal" and "Persona" on Sunday.
The state-funded institute said Monday Andersson was honored four times as best actress for her annual awards. and received a similar award from the Berlin Film Festival in 1963.
Born on November 11, 1935, as Berit Elisabet Andersson, she later appeared in dozens of films, including directors John Huston and Robert Altman, before directing led in Stockholm. In 2009, she suffered a stroke and disappeared from the limelight.

. She is survived by her daughter Jenny and her third husband, Gabriel Mora Baeza. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
