Syfy released a trailer for "Nightflyers" on Thursday at "Comic-Con".
The series, which was heralded as a horror thriller in 2093, is the brainchild of "Game of Thrones" mastermind George RR Martin, who serves as executive producer for the project.
The trailer follows a group of eight scientists on the spaceship "Nightflyer". Although they set off with an admirable goal to save humanity from a dying world, things are taking a turn very quickly.
A suspicious "malfunction" deprives three of the men and makes others suspect what's really going on. "There is something wrong with this ship" is a sentiment echoing ominously over images of characters who succumb to the manipulations of the ship to varying degrees.
And then comes a warning: "Do not bring the Nightflyer back to Earth."
Since it is not possible to leave the ship, the question arises as to whether the crew can get to the bottom of the events in order to save themselves from madness.
Martin already described "Nightflyers" as a "haunted house story" on a spaceship, "akin to Alfred Hitchcock's" Psycho, "but in space.
Created by Jeff Buhler, the series is produced by Universal Cable Productions. Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, and Jodie Turner-Smith-Star.
