DAMASCUS, Syria – Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has handed over a list of its designated members to the Russian and Iranian ambassadors in Damascus A National Constitution Review Committee

The constitutional process was over central point of conflict between the government of President Bashar Assad and the international community and the Syrian opposition.

Assad has stated that his government will only consider amendments to the constitution. The UN initiative has been boosted by Russia in February triggered earlier this year had organized a Syrian congress in Sochi to support the government war-led side to draft a new constitution.

But the Syrian government has refused to support the effort.

The State Department statement, released in state media on Saturday's Urday, was vague as to whether the government designated its own commission or nominated members of a U.N. commission. It did not identify the members mentioned in the list. And it said the government was satisfied with the "present constitution".
