Sonic the Hedgehog has a hard time meeting expectations. Unlike Nintendo's mascot Mario, Sonic's adventures have not always worked out, mainly because of his attitude of being fast and accepting life. Fortunately, all of this changed in 2017 when Christian Whitehead was freed by Sega and revived the series with Sonic Mania and finally the DLC add-on Sonic Mania Plus .
Also Takashi Iizuka from Sonic Team did not take this for granted. During an interview with LadBible a few weeks ago, he briefly mentioned how important Mania was to the Sonic franchise:
"Post-Mania, I feel that the character and the games have really turned a corner where we want to go everything has to go. "
As for the Sonic film, Iizuka has already made it clear that Sega is not involved. Iizuka is a consultant, but all that is part of it is the film crew, who shows him his work and then asks for feedback. He also listens to what the fans are saying about the upcoming movie and passes it on:
"It's not a SEGA movie ̵1; we do not do it or something – and I'm really just a consultant, but I'll leave you Show things and the [movie team] ask my opinion, I also listen to what the fans say and I give this back to the director – he and the producers are very interested in getting that Paramount, to make something successful, but we're all looking forward to seeing the finished movie.
