Car enthusiasts complain a lot about how modern cars get heavier and heavier. It's actually the biggest complaint among car enthusiasts in every new generation of vehicles, as it always increases in size and weight. We are just as guilty as anybody else. However, there is a good reason why cars are getting so big and heavy – safety. Modern security technology; including structural bracing, crumple zones, innumerable airbags and sensors; All combine to make cars very heavy. But as the BMW X1 driver will tell you, the weight is worth the safety.
In the Slovak Republic, this BMW X1 apparently experienced a so-called microsleep, which ended pretty bad. What is microsleep, you ask? In short, it's a very short episode where your brain will fall asleep, usually caused by sleep deprivation, but only takes a handful of seconds. That's an eternity when you're behind the wheel of a car and you're traveling at high speed.

After watching the amazing video of the Police of the Slovak Republic, it is amazing that the driver is still alive. He not only lives, he has only slight bumps and bruises. That's a damned miracle. He underwent a sobriety test and was tested for alcohol or drugs but was completely sober. It's really an unfortunate timing to fall asleep.
Now that he knows he's not seriously injured, the video is amazing to watch. It's like something out of a video game. It's also proof of how safe modern cars have become. Twenty years ago, this driver would not have survived this crash. If anything, paramedics would pick up parts of the driver. Now he is safe and will see his family on vacation. That's pretty incredible.
But seriously, now that we know he's fine, how many times will you watch this video in amazement?
