Hungarian Swimmer Tamas Kenderesi is being held in South Korea after being investigated for sexual harassment, Reuters reported Sunday.
The 22-year-old was reportedly arrested early Sunday morning in Gwangju, South Korea, and questioned about a nightclub incident, a Gwangju Seobu Police Station official said. One source told SwimSwam that Kenderesi was in the Coyote Ugly nightclub when he collapsed on Saturday morning, killing two and injuring more than 10. The police said he could not leave the country for ten days.
Kenderesi was the bronze medalist of the 200cc fly in Rio three years ago. He finished eighth in Worlds last week in the finals of the event after participating in an unusual jump with Antani Ivanov to contest the race. It was Kenderesis' only race at these championships.
SwimSwam asked Hungary to comment on the situation.
