A taxi hit eight pedestrians on a sidewalk near Chicago's Navy Pier after an SUV crashed on Saturday.
Pedestrians suffered minor injuries, Chicago police said, while fire fighters said earlier that the victims were in "serious to critical condition," according to the Chicago Sun-Times Media Wire.
The police said the crash was unintentional, the Sun-Times reported.
"We all heard a bang and then we turned around," said Jesse's "The Waterman" Ramirez of the Chicago Tribune.
He said the wreck had happened "just in front of him" where he saw the taxi "barrelling" through the intersection and then "plowed" in the dark blue SUV, the newspaper said.
"We saw on, Devastation. "
" We looked up, desolation, "said Ramirez," and we almost died. He almost killed us. "
The collision occurred around 4:30 pm Local time, police said.
The taxi driver was also injured, a Tribune spokeswoman for Taxi Town Inc. said
