TD Ameritrade launches a new location where you can check your portfolio: in traffic.
The financial services firm announced on-board features Monday that allow drivers to review their balances and portfolio performance, or receive a share price by voice command Commands behind the wheel.
"In a networked world like ours, we need to meet investors wherever they are, whether at home, in the office, or on the road," said Vijay Sankaran, chief information officer at TD Ameritrade, in a press release. "Vehicle technology offers a new kind of connectivity that further eliminates barriers to access to finance education and markets."
Sankaran called it a "natural next step" in weaving investment in people's daily lives. However, the Omaha, Nebraska-based financial services firm did not provide any information as to whether investors would eventually be able to trade voice shares. Currently, Apple CarPlay users can access real-time market news via a new TD Ameritrade radio station, while Android Auto and Echo Auto users can access voice commands to check account balance, portfolios, and market performance.
A report from data company Inrix says drivers lost an average of 97 hours last year due to congestion. Nationwide seat costs were nearly $ 87 billion ̵
"For those who closely follow the financial markets, this loss is exacerbated by an unforeseen missed opportunity," states a press release from TD Ameritrade Jahr. According to TD Ameritrade, customers spend an average of 850,000 trades per day on the platform, a quarter of which is handled by mobile devices. The financial services company offered access to Bitcoin futures for the first time in 2017 to eligible customers.
