NEW PHILADELPHY, Ohio – A widespread illness has become a life-threatening disease for a Tuscarawas County teenager who was finally discharged from hospital after 1
Riane Rine, 13, says she has gained strength in months of fighting for her health in several ways.
"I feel very healthy and know that it will take some time for me to be back with her All my strength, but mentally I feel stronger than before I entered," Rine said.
FOX 8 first spoke with Rine's parents from Akron Children's Hospital in March. Her father, TJ Rine, said she had been in the ECMO life support for 35 days. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seasonal influenza viruses can be detected throughout the year. According to Rine, he encourages all parents to ensure that children are vaccinated against the virus.
"I have a pretty strong belief," said Rine, sitting next to his daughter, trying not to cry. "God tells us that if we have faith in a mustard seed we can move mountains. She is my mountain, did not really care if she would be here or not. I just focused on being here.
