NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ̵

1; – A video of sick and injured animals led to the raid of a PetSmart in Tennessee. Brian Todd, spokesman for the Public Health Department of Metro Nashville, told the Tennessean that Metro Animal Care and Control received a video and photos of animals in the store were treated inadequately. The Ministry of Health and Police raided the pet store on Thursday.

Todd said the injured or sick animals had been confiscated, but did not reveal the number.

In a statement, people for the ethical treatment of animals said a store clerk sent them records of management who refused to provide veterinary assistance to keep costs low so they could earn rewards. PETA says the involved animals contained small mammals such as guinea pigs and a mouse.

The newspaper failed to reach PetSmart for comment.
