In a statement, people for the ethical treatment of animals said a store clerk sent them records of management who refused to provide veterinary assistance to keep costs low so they could earn rewards. PETA says the involved animals contained small mammals such as guinea pigs and a mouse.
The newspaper failed to reach PetSmart for comment.
