4-year-old girl was found safe about 700 miles after being reported missing from her home in Madisonville on January 14, Monroe County sheriff Tommy Jones said.

"She's safe, she's in custody, and that's the best outcome for the situation," Jones said during a press conference, according to NBC affiliate WBIR.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and law enforcement agencies in Other States helped investigate the disappearance of the girl. NBC does not report the names of potential victims of sexual assault.

The adoptive father, who was charged with the case on Thursday, was arrested without arrest for a single rape counter, according to the Monroe County Sheriff Office.
