The Tesla Model 3 is no stranger to breaking records and, in some cases, even taking home number one European countries in certain months, but This has historically occurred only in the third month of the big quarter. The first and second months of the quarter are usually very weak for Tesla in Europe.
News from Sweden says, however, that the Model 3 entered the top 10 of all vehicles (ranked 10th) in July. the first month of this quarter. This is a high rank for the first month of a quarter.
There are two possible explanations for this relatively high rank. For one, the car is so popular and the supply is so good that the Model 3 even performs well in some "free months" markets. The other possibility is that Tesla is doing exactly what CEO Elon Musk has promised to do this year – to handle the wave of vehicle deliveries around the world. In other words, Tesla is working to achieve a more steady, less dramatic delivery pattern. Instead of delivering 90% of deliveries in the third month of the quarter, Tesla can deliver 30% in the first month, 30% in the second month and 40% in the third month. (These numbers are just examples, not necessarily what Tesla does.)
We do not currently know exactly how much the strong month is due to rising demand and supply compared to a smoothed delivery pattern, but we should get it more Insights from Elon into the next Tesla conference call for shareholders. This seems to be a regular topic of discussion at quarterly polls.
Even in the "worse" of the two cases, a regular position among the top 10 car sales in a country is a commendable achievement. The Model 3 was the ninth-best car in the US in the second quarter, an astonishing result considering the age of the company and the vehicle class, but the Swedish ranking is for all commercial vehicle types and classes, not just cars.
Will the Model 3 remain stable at position 10 in Sweden? Or will it go past # 10 and go higher, maybe even # 1 by the end of the quarter? Or of course the model 3 could fall in the sales ranking. Place your bets today if you say "I told you" in early October.
