Part of the fascination of investors for Tesla has long been the development of hardware and software. The plan to integrate power generation and storage to "create impressive solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage," as described in Masterplan, Part Deux, has also given cause. Of course, Tesla's acquisition of SolarCity and the Tesla launch in Tesla has been controversial, but solar is a necessary element of Solar Energy + +'s EV + energy storage vision for a sustainable future. As of April 6, Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a confirmed visit to Buffalo to explore the RiverBend plant, a 96-acre site on a sharp bend of the Buffalo River.

The media, factory workers and Tesla fans were all thrilled. No, Musk has not spent much of his time on the so-called Gigafactory-2 grounds (maybe not before), but he personally oversees the planning and testing of solar tiles, which are Tesla's next-generation solar roofing product. Tesla's vision for an independent renewable energy future is growing among people, and Musk says this will be the biggest year yet, far away for the energy share of the company.

The Energy Triumvirate: Transportation, Solar Systems, and Battery Storage

What happens when a family decides to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a renewable energy system? Electric vehicle, a solar system with a few dozen panels and a smart battery in the basement?

On sunny days, photovoltaic panels can cover the entire electricity needs of the household and also charge the car battery of their car. Once these areas are replenished, the electricity generated on the roof can deliver what the stationary battery needs and increase the house's capacity for nightly energy needs and overcast days. When all of these requirements are met, the unit's digital control system automatically sends excess power to the grid and typically provides compensation to the family from the local grid company.

What else does the 3-way Renewable Energy System offer? It offers security against rising energy costs. As part of the "Internet of Things," the connected software of the system allows the family to assess how the system produces, consumes, and stores power. It can also monitor which part of the solar production goes online.

Every second contract for roof solar modules in Germany is now sold with a battery storage. 120,000 households and small companies housing solar power represent only a small proportion of the 81 million people in Germany. However, battery prices have dropped so much that the German Development Bank has eliminated the 2013-2018 battery discounts, which have been cut by 30% , [19659007] Although 2018 was not as robust for American solar companies as expected, a low component price trend in 2019 will increase volume demand. In the United States, the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) increased its projections for solar power plants from 2020 to 2023 by the end of 2018 by 3.2 GW. And as solar systems become more competitive for utilities in more and more places, so too does rooftop solar systems.

The price tag of a complete residential package for renewable energy depends on many factors, such as: As the size of the apartment or the orientation of the building the sun and the selection of electric vehicles, solar panels, batteries and management systems. What is certain, however, is that an owner with high technology and plenty of sunlight can save a lot of energy costs.

Tesla's Vision of Energy Independence Advances Around the World

Tesla's Powerwall, an energy storage solution for the retail industry, is already becoming massive for storing energy from renewable sources used. In the fourth quarter of 2018, Tesla's power generation and storage totaled $ 371.5 million (an increase of almost 25% over the previous year).

Rising concerns about the environmental impact of fossil fuels and the capacity and resilience of energy networks Worldwide, engineers and policymakers are increasingly turning to their own energy storage solutions. Analysts agree: a green future for an electric vehicle in every garage, a solar system on every roof, and a battery in every basement are now more pragmatic than romantic. Evidence is gathering around us to explore how renewable energy and batteries will fundamentally transform the electricity system.

As batteries become cheaper and more powerful, they will increasingly store the uneven performance of wind and solar energy. If in doubt, look no further than Florida, where the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has announced plans to build the world's largest battery energy storage system alongside an existing solar power plant. Other storage systems will soon be in Florida, so FPL will be able to replace 1,638 MW of traditional generation capacity in addition to increasing the efficiency of existing combustion turbines in other power plants.

FPL's growing knowledge of solar and battery optimization In addition to the rapidly declining costs of new technologies, utilities in the US and around the world are leading the way.

Then there is ScottishPower which included a $ 2.65 billion investment program for 2019 targeting large batteries storage and public charging stations for electric vehicles. The investment, the largest in a year, was made following the sale of ScottishPower's thermal business late last year.

The money earmarked for 2019 is part of a wider, triple-stranded investment program expected to take place between the two in 2018 and 2022. These amounts are 40% for new renewables, 42% for smarter grids and 15% for innovative ones Services and products for the approximately 5 million customers of the company.

Manufacturer of energy systems Siemens Corp. will work with 3 US Department of Energy energy laboratories to test new technologies to improve power, options and reliability over the coming years:

  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory located in Golden, Colorado;
  • Oak Ridge National Laboratory at Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and
  • Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington.

The collaboration is expected to leverage Siemens' expertise in marketing innovative energy systems technologies through the provision of its Software Defined Inverter (SDI) technology, which, after validation, could be incorporated into new technologies to strengthen and modernize the power grid nation including micro-grids and distributed energy resources such as energy storage.

Concluding thoughts

Tesla's first off-grid battery in South Australia paved the way for a virtual power plant plan to do so Over the next 4 years, solar systems will be integrated into 50,000 households on the roof and connected to grid stores, the largest solar virtual power plant in history to accomplish. This project has ripple effects that resonate around the world. The key point is governments that have the political will to participate in such transformation programs.

According to a report, the global market for energy storage systems is set to increase by $ 301.4 billion by 2025 from $ 196.7 billion in 2017. The Energy Storage Association, a US based trading group, says the global energy storage market will grow exponentially to more than 40 GW by 2022 from an initial base of just 0.34 GW installed in 2012 and 2013. [19659007] Economy and release from fossil fuels are not always the main motivation of purchasers of battery systems. Many people want to be independent of electricity companies and rising prices. Others just want to be part of the future. There are many reasons to choose the battery. These reasons are reaching more and more large and small consumers.
