Thanks to a small detail, Deadpool could not exist in the MCU

Dead Pool came out in 2016. Dead Pool 2 appeared in 2018. In a normal universe, Deadpool 3 would be out now. If there is anything that has been made clear in the past few months, we are not living in something that resembles a normal universe.

Right now, Deadpool 3 has nothing that resembles a release date. Even if a screenplay were finished, it couldn’t be shot right now given the pandemic. So fans are wondering if time travel could help bring Deadpool 3 out – or if they could just keep it at bay.

‘Deadpool 3’ has stalled even more than most superhero films

Meanwhile, every superhero film whether it is Black widow, Wonder Woman 1984 or Poison 2, has been postponed to either later this year or 2021 and beyond. But Deadpool was having trouble before the corona virus wreaked havoc.

One of them was Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox, which owns the rights to Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four. The latter two’s most recent films were both bombed, but the Deadpool films were big hits, with the first one bringing in $ 363 million, which was better than most people expected. Deadpool 2 made it a little less good and made $ 324 million, but it was still good enough that a third seemed to be in the pocket.

The Fox didn’t just buy a stable Deadpool 3, but there were questions about how the film could evolve. Quite a few fans thought Disney would castrate the anti-hero with a bad mouth on a PG-13 rating, although several people have indicated that this would not happen. There is another gap in the form of this eternal crutch for storytelling, time travel.

How does time travel affect Deadpool?

In a Reddit thread, a topic starter asked: “I was just watching Deadpool 2 and saw a small but very important detail. Time travel. It literally violates the established rules for time travel Endgame. This is because the daughters of the teddy bear cable daughter change as a result of the change in the past. This would be impossible in Endgame, since it is clearly stated that you cannot change the present in the past because the present becomes your past. “

Endgame famously called BS on Back to the Future Time travel logic that says you can change the future by changing the past. As another fan explained, Endgame uses quantum time travel, which is played according to different rules. And Deadpool, both as a character and as a franchise, is about nothing, if not rules. Just think of the wisecracks that Deadpool could make about quantum time travel, and the fact that Cable Thanos looks very similar because both are played by Josh Brolin.

Time travel should not rule out that Deadpool is part of the MCU, since the Deadpool films don’t take themselves too seriously. As one fan put it: “Dude. It is deadpool. You can just do it that DP1 / 2 were all a dream if you wanted to. As if he was waking up and really confused. Or accidentally drive to the MCU. Anything is possible with his character. “

What really holds Deadpool 3 back?

Anything is possible with the Deadpool character, but that doesn’t mean that the third film is easy to get going. Rob Liefeld, co-creator of Deadpool, recently caused controversy when he seemed to be throwing Marvel Studios under the bus about Deadpool’s delay.

According to Gizmodo, Liefeld clarified his comments and said: “Do I know that there is no movement on you? Deadpool 3 right now? I know that. Yes, ”said Liefeld. “And do I worry? No not at all. I honestly answered a question. And what I’ve learned this week is just a lie. Just tell people that they’re all lollipops, unicorns and rainbows, and you’ll be better off in your life because people want to be lied to. Just because a guy says, “Yeah, we’re still moving.” This is the code for “There’s nothing to see here.”

That’s another way of saying “don’t hold your breath” when it comes to that Deadpool 3. It will almost certainly happen at some point, but it will be later rather than earlier. And that’s no different from any other film these days. Deadpool fans just have to wait a little longer. And they probably wish they could use time travel to fix that.
