SACRAMENTO, California – Do not call the 2020 Jeep Gladiator "Wrangler Pickup" unless you're ready for a talk by its owner.
To start with, the top model, a Gladiator Rubicon, is 30 inches longer and 600 pounds heavier than a four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.
The difference in length and weight of the two jeeps is much greater than the distance between a Honda Civic compact and a mid-size sedan from Accord.
In addition, The Gladiator was designed to carry 7,650 pounds, more than twice as much as the 3,500 Wrangler Unlimited capacity.

The frame determines how a vehicle handles weight and how the structure behaves in order to protect the occupants in an accident, similar to the wranglers under the cabin
Any significant change in vehicle weight affects almost all other aspects of its structure, meaning that changes such as replacement of the spare tire from the Wrangler tailgate are under the bed – where almost all of the replacement parts of the vehicle weigh Pickups go – more changes meant the entire rear suspension needed r to be redesigned to have off-road capability, towing capacity and the ability to carry 1,650 passengers and things in the cabin and bed.
More than just the substructure has changed. The slots in Jeep's seven-fold grille are larger in the Gladiator because the engine needs more air to cool when pulling a heavy trailer on a steep hill in hot weather.
