Google announced for the first time in May that Android Auto would soon have a brand new UI, but no fixed release date was announced. Some people said they had received the new look in June, but Google said it was still working on it. The updated user interface may finally be introduced after several reports from our readers and from Reddit.

The UI is the same as the one Google teased a few months ago. It's darker with more readable fonts, there's a new navigation bar with a wizard button, and a notification center. Overall, it's pretty fancy.

Some users were able to activate the new UI with the latest version of Android Auto (v4.5.5928) by flushing the app cache and data, and then enforcing the close. Once that's done, you may see "Try the new Android car" option in the app settings. Their mileage can vary. ̵

Thanks for the picture, Zach!

We will look for more reports. In the meantime, you can download the latest version of APKMirror to get the elusive rollout on the server side.
