Introducing, Prince Louis!
Prince William and Kate Middleton have revealed the name they chose for their boy.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles," Kensington Palace said in a statement Friday. "The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge."
Louis, meaning "famous warrior" in French, is probably an homage to Prince Philip, whose grandfather was Prince Louis Alexander von Battenberg. Louis is also a part of Prince William the full name of William Arthur Philip Louis and Prince George the full name of George Alexander Louis. It also has great significance for Williams' own father, Prince Charles, whose beloved great-uncle and mentor, Earl Louis Mountbatten, was assassinated by the IRA in 1
The second names of the royal baby of Charles and Arthur also have a special meaning. Charles is, of course, in honor of the boy's grandfather, Prince Charles. And the name Arthur is a family tradition. Both Papa William and Grandpa Charles have it as a second name. Arthur was also the name of the third son of Queen Victoria (and the seventh child) and was considered her favorite child.
The name Arthur, which means Celtic "bear", is also rooted in mythology. King Arthur is a legendary figure who in the Middle Ages was the head of the Kingdom of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table.
While Will and Kate waited four days before revealing the name of their new baby, this prevented the British competition organizers from doing so (Albert and Arthur were early favorites). William also took up his son's name when he left the hospital. "You'll find out soon enough," he said with a smile.
And eagle-eye fans even saw a suspicious website on the royal family's official website with a URL that contained the name Prince Albert – one of the best predictions
The name Louis comes as a surprise as it ranks # 10 on the odds ago. "Prince Louis has surprised both bookie and betting players," said Alex Apati of Ladbrokes. "Since it was one of Prince George's middle names, the fans did not see it as an obvious champion for Kate and Will's second son."
The big brother Prince George received from the royal parents also a name with special meaning birth. His full name, George Alexander Louis, was chosen with love and an allusion to history.
The name George has a great sentimental meaning for William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, as it was the name of her beloved father when he became King George VI in 1936. It is believed that Alexander of the couple is in honor of the Queen , whose middle name is Alexandra, was selected. And of course Louis is special for the royal family – now the two royal brothers share the name.
When it came to choosing a name for her second child, Princess Charlotte, the royal parents pay William's deceased mother, Princess Diana, Tribute, and the full name The almost three-year-old princess is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Will and Kate represented the baby's grandfather, Prince Charles, by opting for the female version of his name. And they included Princess Diana, who was a popular choice among friends and admirers of her legacy. They added the finishing touch to Granny and the reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

The Baby Prince was born on Monday at 11:01 am at 8lbs, 7oz. Only seven hours after the birth of her third child, Kate Middleton (in Heels!) Appeared on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday night with Prince William at her side to introduce her new boy to the world.
Kate's younger sister, Pippa, was one of the first visitors to the royal baby. Pippa, reportedly expecting her first child with husband James Matthews, arrived at Kensington Palace a day after the prince's birth.

Following the birth of the royal baby, Prince Charles published a humorous explanation for himself and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
"We are both very pleased with the news" said Charles in a statement. "It's a great pleasure to have another grandchild, the only trouble is that I do not know how to keep up with them."
Queen Elizabeth celebrated her family's recent addition to a quick ride through Windsor Castle, where she stays with her husband Prince Philip, who is still recovering from hip surgery.
